I have been a teacher at Bonner Springs Elementary for the past 24 years! In the past, I taught grades 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I loved getting to have my own classroom of students and watch them grow each year. My undergraduate degree came from Baker University in 2000 and I came to Bonner Springs for my first teaching job. I've been here ever since because it truly is the BEST SCHOOL EVER!
In May of 2015, I graduated from Fort Hays State University with a Masters in Library Science to become the BSE Library Media Specialist. This is my sixth year in this position and I'm so excited to be on this journey with the students and staff of BSE. It's been very exciting to have a teaching part in all students kindergarten through 5th grades. I am also teaching in the Masters Education Program for FHSU online. My love of literature and technology is something I can now share with the students each and every day from Kindergarten through Adults.
I have been married for the past 24 years as well to my husband, Brady. We are huge Sporting KC fans and enjoy going to games when we can. We both played soccer in college so we share a love for that sport. We have two boys, Weston (age 18) and Cooper (age 14), who keep us busy with sports and school activities. My boys love to read as well but in different tastes. Weston is a graphic novel fanatic and Cooper likes historical fiction and comedy books.
I love to take pictures of all the amazing learning moments at BSE and in our LMC. This allows me to have my creative outlet and I love capturing photos of important events in the lives of our BSE students. One of my favorite things is when I have my previous students come visit and share with me all the accomplishments they have been able to achieve since leaving BSE.
I am blessed to have an amazing aide, Ms. Anastasia Mellott. She is new to BSE and brings such a positive, go-getter attitude to our library. Her organization keeps the library running smoothly. The students really can count on her for book suggestions, understanding words and smiles!
